GUYANA ZOO EDUCATION VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME

The Guyana Zoological Park , since the year 2000 has been the proud host of an interactive education programme, known to many as the Guyana Zoo Education Volunteer Programme .

On the 1 st July 2006, the Zoo will once again commence training of its 8 th batch of Education Volunteers. This training programme has a duration period of 10-12 weeks. The venue for this activity will be the Nature School . Candidates are required to be 17 years of age or older and share a love for wildlife.

Members of the media are invited to cover this event.

This unique and extraordinary programme has created over 100 enthusiastic and competent Education Volunteers that are skilled in the art of public speaking and contain a wealth of information on wildlife, conservation and environmental issues, which they eagerly share with the public.

The presence of Education Volunteers at the Zoo, aid in bridging the gap between humans and animals, by sharing with the Zoo patrons fascinating facts about these creatures that allows us to understand and appreciate their magnificence.
